Elisa’s SD-LAN is based on network technology from the world’s top producers, which is in accordance with Gartner’s IBNS (intent-based networking system) model. IBNS is not a product or market area, but technology in which the user policy defined by the administrator is introduced in the network’s devices in a software-defined manner. It brings simplicity, automation and insight to both wireless and fixed local area networks.
In traditional local area networks, user segmentation and its definition on network devices typically have the highest workloads, both in the implementation and operation stages. SD-LAN brings segmentation to a new level and makes related planning, definition and use significantly easier. For example, in the case of 100 locations and ten user segments, the workload is reduced to one hundredth of what it would normally be.
SD-LAN also simplifies the wide area network (WAN) structure. Traditionally, user segmentation has been achieved over WAN using multiple VPNs, for example. In our new local area network service, you only need one segment. The technology under the service takes care of end-user segmentation after it.
